Yesterday (14th March) we spent the whole day investigating mathematical themes relating to pattern in lots of different forms. In their family groups, the children carried out five different activities. These included symmetry (can you complete a picture of a face from just half of it?); invention of new number systems and symbols; fitting shapes together and tessellation; investigating patterns within the human body and making curves by sewing with straight lines of thread. Everyone was busy all day, still concentrating hard at the end of the afternoon and had a great time.
