Great Abington Primary School

KS2 trip to the Thames Barrier - April 2010

On the 22nd of April, while some of the Great Abington children were in Norfolk on the residential trip, the remaining KS2 children enjoyed a visit to London. We visited the Thames Barrier and learned about flood control for London as well as some history of the River Thames. The trip also included a trip on the river to Greenwich and finished by crossing the river by walking right underneath it. As we were travelling by coach we were able to see some other landmarks including new developments for the 2012 Olympics.  This trip was a great introduction to our new topic for this term "Mighty Mountains and Water Worlds". Have a look at some of our pictures.....
